This week we delve into the book loves of our Teacher Librarian, Miss Kelly!
What was your favourite book as a child?
I had so many! I consumed every book I could as a kid!
I loved a series: ‘Worry Warts’ and ‘Misery Guts’ by Morris Gleitzman. They are in our school library and still sold today (even though they are about 25years old). These books are funny and very Aussie! I also loved Paul Jennings – funny, gross, a little scary and very well written.
What is your favourite current children’s book?
Pig the Elf! I have been waiting all year for this book. I love Aaron Blabey!
If you were a book character, who would you be?
A HEROINE!! I like to imagine myself as someone like Katniss (Hunger Games) or Miss Peregrine… the truth is I am probably more like Ms Frizzle from The Magic School Bus!
What is your one tip for parents?
Let your kids read anything. Don’t pressure them to choose anything particular or to read ‘chapter books’. If they are reading – especially in the later years of primary – that is great!
